Crackle Plus taps Amagi to expand its ad inventory

Crackle Plus, a Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment company, will use Amagi’s Ads Plus technology. Crackle Plus, which provides ad-supported video-on-demand (AVOD) streaming, will use Amagi’s technology to increase its direct and programmatic ad sales.

Amagi’s Ads Plus platform supports over 700 content brands on 2,000+ channels and delivers over 50 billion ad impressions. Its supply of connected TV inventory caters to the needs of both buyers and sellers through a unified ad marketplace. It also delivers proprietary ad insertion technology and progressive ad technology.

“The CTV advertising marketplace is bursting with untapped potential, and Amagi is one of the few ad solutions providers with a 360-degree view of the entire landscape,” says Philippe Guelton, president of Crackle Plus, in a statement. “By working with them, we can now offer our advertising partners additional reach and targeted ad deliveries in a curated, brand-safe environment.”

Amagi says its deal with Crackle Plus signals industry interest in a new form of advertising agreement in the CTV marketplace: one that highlights the monetization opportunities for content owners and platforms.

According to Amagi’s website, its Ads Plus software-as-a-service technology delivers targeted ads at scale, which improves fill rates and optimizes price.

Recently, Cox Media Group said it was using Amagi to expand its digital streaming strategy. In that deal, Cox tapped Amagi’s Cloudport cloud playout service. It enables Cox to be a partner for distribution endpoints like Plex and Redbox, handling complex functions like EPG ingestion, manipulation and formatting.

For its part, Crackle Plus streaming services are currently distributed through 70 touchpoints in the U.S. on platforms including Amazon FireTV, RokuTV, Apple TV, Smart TVs (Samsung, LG, Vizio), gaming consoles (PS4 and Xbox One), Plex, iOS and Android mobile devices and on desktops at Crackle.com. The company also has announced plans to expand to over 90 touchpoints.

In addition, Crackle is available in approximately 500,000 hotel rooms in the Marriott Bonvoy chain.
