Accedo Broadband launches app store, Genius TV partnership

Sweden-based TV application enabler Accedo Broadband, which has had success working with middleware partners on IPTV deployments in Europe and Asia, has launched an applications store to allow customers of IPTV service provider to buy applications on a single-fee or subscription basis, or even access them for free. The Accedo App Store for IPTV uses a remote control accessing content through existing service provider and broadcaster user interfaces. It's built on the vendor's Accedo Application Provisioning Solution.

The app store concept has been a big hit in the mobile industry, so why not the IPTV sector as well?

Accedo Broadband's app store launch follows the company's announcement earlier this week of a new partnership with TV Genius involving the latter's online TV and video search engine. Accedo Broadband said it will be talking about both announcements at the IBC event in Amsterdam starting next week and running Sept. 11-15.
