Apple could add TV set to its product arsenal

Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) may be looking to jumpstart its stutter-stepping Apple TV effort by adding an ingredient guaranteed to get it into consumer hands: an Apple-branded television set.

Evidence of that resides in a rather innocuous company posting an engineer to work on "new power management designs and technologies ... (for) Apple's next-generation Macintosh platforms spanning from notebook computers, desktop computers, servers, standalone displays, and TV."

It's the "and TV" part that's got the blogosphere excited, predicting a ready market for any device with the Apple brand attached. Of course there's no word--yet--on whether the TV would be 3D capable or not.
