Armstrong integrates Hulu into EXP user interface

Butler, Pennsylvania-based telecom Armstrong Utilities has announced the integration of Hulu into its TiVo-powered EXP video interface. 

Armstrong will distribute Hulu’s $7.99 on-demand limited commercial SVOD platform, as well as its $11.99 no-commercial offering. Armstrong is the 11th largest cable operator in the U.S., according to Kagan, serving around 386,000 residential and commercial customers in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky and Maryland.

In 2015, Armstrong began deploying TiVo’s cloud-based EPX service, running it on the Pace MG1 whole-home gateway DVR and Pace MI3 IP STB client.

“EXP customers can now enjoy instant access to Hulu without additional equipment, changing remotes or TV inputs,” said Jeff Ross, Armstrong president, in a statement. “EXP is simply the best way to enjoy television programming all in one easy-to-use interface powered by TiVo.”

Armstrong has already integrated Netflix, as well as Netflix UltraHD content, on the platform.

But Armstrong customers might consider streaming these SVOD services in moderation.

Armstrong made waves last year by imposing a 400 gigabyte usage cap on its Zoom 200 Mbps internet service.

The operator responded with this statement: "Armstrong has been continuously improving our internet product since its introduction 21 years ago.  This past March, we increased the data allowance on our standard level of internet to 1 Terabyte. We also increased our higher level internet levels to 2 Terabytes and have an unlimited data option available."
