Calix offers cable providers 1 Gbps speed using DOCSIS over GPON

Calix Networks has announced the launch of a few fiber access product for the residential cable market that allows operators to deliver 1 Gbps speeds using DOCSIS provisioning of GPON (DpoG) technology. Texas-based Grande Communications is the first cable provider to deploy the new service, which relies on a mix of new software and legacy hardware. Light Reading has a full report here.
