Clearwire (Nasdaq: CLWR) has turned a negative into a positive. Taken to task by Netflix (Nasdaq: NFLX) for providing an unacceptable broadband experience for carrying over-the-top video content, the WiMAX service provider turned it into a compliment ... with reservations.
"We'd like to thank Netflix for ranking us with our wired counterparts," a Clearwire blog stated. "For those of you that follow these things, it probably doesn't come as a surprise that a wireless network would rank behind wired DSL, cable and fiber optic networks in terms of speed."
Clearwire then took Netflix to task for missing a point that goes beyond mere speed. "Mobile broadband gives a Netflix subscriber more value, in more places, than a wired connection ever could," the service provider said. "Our network keeps people connected even after they've left the house."
