The rollout by Cox follows the launch of its first iPad application earlier this year. That application, called Mobile Connect, allowed TV viewers to use the iPad to control and manage DVR content. Cox announced last month that it was putting the finishing touches on an iPad application that would enable iPad users to view 35 Cox channels.

According to a Cox statement, the new TV Connect offering includes an on-screen guide, and customers can select a full-screen viewing option once a program has been selected. At initial launch, Cox customers with Preferred, Premier or Ultimate Cox High Speed Internet service, Cox TV Essential service or higher and a DOCSIS modem can download the application.

The cable TV industry continues to work on sorting out disagreements over iPad distribution rights with content companies, but that has not stopped the service providers from launching at least limited viewing applications.
