AT&T senior executive Tom Keathley said the wireless company would begin trials of LTE-U technology possilby by the end of the year, and no later than early 2016.
Speaking to FierceWireless at the CTIA trade event in Las Vegas, Keathley, AT&T's senior VP of wireless network architecture and design, said the trials will determine if and when AT&T deploys the technology.
"There will be no devices until early next year anyway," he said, "so the timing is reasonable.
