Discovery, Sony and Imax join hands in 24x7 3D channel effort

As predicted earlier this week, a joint venture of Discovery Channel, Sony and Imax has formed to create a 24x7 3D TV channel featuring Discovery-heavy programming such as natural history, space, exploration, adventure, engineering, science and technology subject matter.

The channel will be headed by Tom  Cosgrove, formerly a Discovery executive and will be a "turning point in entertainment history, not unlike the transition from silent movies to ‘talkies' to black-and-white to color," said Sony Pictures Entertainment CEO Michael Lynton with just a trace of exuberance.
