Last week, the U.S. government passed a bill to eliminate barriers to entry for new entrants, i.e. the telcos, in the IPTV market. However, the incumbent carriers will have to change the way they operate from a state and national level to a local level. This strategy will help them poach cable customers and truly win the IPTV battle. They also need to give the potential subscribers a reason to make a switch to their offering, be it content or convenience.
