Entone rolls out new energy efficient media player for EMEA operators

Hybrid set-top box vendor Entone has launched a media player for operators in EMEA that uses less energy and provides more power.

The company said its new Kamai 500 Series Media Player has been designed as a Hybrid TV client device and said the compact device uses less energy that other streaming devices while also offering more processing speed.

Entone said the Kamai 500 Series offers carrier grade Wi-Fi and Adaptive Bit-Rate (ABR) streaming. It also provides pre-802.11ac Wi-Fi support for enabling whole-home wireless HD video distribution.

The new device combines DVB-T, DAB and T-DMB, as well as over-the-top services, with an operator-branded user interface, which, Entone, said, helps operators increase customer satisfaction and also enhances revenue opportunities.

Kamai enables access to OTT services like Vudu, Netflix, YouTube and Amazon On Demand, and it also allows customers to use Facebook, Twitter and Flingo.

Kamai 500 integrates with an array of third-party middleware and digital rights management (DRM) solutions.
