Google Fiber's Medin: video a must to compete in broadband

Google Fiber (NASDAQ: GOOG) built its name on its 1 Gbps service. But speaking at the Comptel Plus Conference in Orlando, Fla., this week, Milo Medin, VP of access services for the company, said the key to the service's high market demand is content. "What we have found is that while it's not necessary to offer voice service because of wireless substation, if you don't offer a good TV service your ability to compete with incumbents that bundle Internet and TV together is significantly impaired," Medin said.
