Huawei to manage Swiss IPTV network

Swiss operator Sunrise wants Huawei to manage its fixed and mobile IPTV and Internet operations for the next five years and has awarded the Chinese firm a multitechnology contract to provide design and planning, network build, performance management, network operations and spare parts management for its new networks.

Huawei will also be responsible for field operations.

The contract is new; the working relationship is not, the two partners said.

"We opted for this partner after successfully cooperating for over two years, during which we saw ample evidence of Huawei's innovative abilities and drive," Sunrise CEO Oliver Steil said.

Huawei, in a news release, called the contract "a significant milestone as it further demonstrates the rapid growth of Huawei's managed services in Europe."
