IPTV STB market set to slow blistering pace

Market research firm In-Stat says in a new global market report that the IPTV set-top box market grew by about 55 percent last year as operators continued to roll out new services. Not surprisingly, however, the blistering pace will be unsustainable as the market continues to mature and economic factors have some impact. In-Stat said the IPTV STB market likely will grow only slightly this year and in 2010.

The In-Stat report, "Worldwide IP Set Top Box Market," also takes a closer look at technology trends in the IPTV STB sector, such as the integration of hard drive, improved power management and overall cost improvements.
