According to a recent report from the Dell'Oro Group, during the third quarter the researchers found a "notable strong demand" for edge routers, which grew at a rate more than twice as fast as that of core routers, and accounted for almost two-thirds of the $1.5 billion service provider router market. Dell'Oro's VP of router research Shin Umeda noted: "Over the past three quarters, the edge router market growth has accelerated as service providers look to prepare their networks for next-generation broadband services such as IPTV and VoIP."
