Motorola gives voice to TV remote control

Motorola has developed a voice calling capability for a recently-announced TV remote control that is expected to be available to IPTV service subscribers by early next year. The Motorola R331 VIP rechargeable remote leverages a base station cradle and RF signaling that, when matched with an additional microphone and Bluetooth wireless connectivity to the cradle and the handset/remote, will allow the device to handle telephony functions. The device would be particularly useful alongside a caller I.D. on TV capability.
