Canadian multi-services broadband provider MTS will use Pace's bonded VDSL2/ADSL+ residential gateway to expand its delivery of new broadband services and increase the reach of its MTS FiON network, the two companies said in a press release Monday. Additionally, the gateways will enable MTS subscribers to set up and use wireless home networks connected between the most popular consumer electronics devices.
"The Pace 5168N gateway helps us deliver Internet speeds of up to 250 Mbps on the MTS FiON Network and will be used to deliver speeds of up to 50 Mbps over our VDSL2 network," said Stan Kurtas, vice president of marketing for the Manitoba-based company that is wholly owned by Manitoba Telecom Services. "We can further expand our broadband service coverage and provide better in-home wireless networking performance thanks to our partnership with Pace."
MTS has pumped $125 million into FiON, a fiber-to-the-home network designed to upgrade copper lines in over 20 communities in Manitoba, offering faster broadband speeds and a lineup of HDTV.
The Pace gateway will enable the century-old carrier to not only reach consumer homes with high-speed broadband but also to spread the bandwidth inside the home by connecting to "today's most popular consumer connected devices," the press release said.
"Increased service area coverage, speed improvements and ease of installation are all key benefits that Pace residential gateways deliver to service providers and their customers," the press release continued.
According to Tim O'Loughlin, president of Pace Americas, the newest partnership only adds onto a "long history" between the two companies "to offer industry-leading product innovation and service enhancements that ultimately improve the subscriber experience."
