Report: IPTV CAGR of 24% through 2014; subs forecast at 106M

The worldwide IPTV subscriber base is expected to grow at nearly a compound annual growth rate near 24 percent through 2014, lifting the subscriber base to some 106 million, says a new report.

The research, from RNCOS's "Global IPTV Market Forecast to 2014," attributes the growth to expanding broadband penetration, speed and interactive applications, and says it gives telcos a "great opportunity" to increase ARPU from its customers.

Like most other recent research, the RNCOS report points out that the Asian IPTV market is set to boom, and will eventually dominate the world market in terms of households with the potential to add IPTV services as its high-speed infrastructure continues to build out.

RNCOS said FTTx deployments also will drive IPTV adoption.
