Simple.tv makes Aereo-like play with cloud DVR

The quest to launch a legally viable service that enables unfettered streaming of broadcast TV has been a Holy Grail for technologists, one fraught with judicial hurdles, as Barry Dillar's Aereo famously found out last year in the U.S. Supreme Court.

But the quest goes on. The latest attempt comes courtesy of DVR company Simple.tv. According to Variety, the company is launching ShowDrive, a cloud-based DVR that lets users record and stream broadcast shows onto almost any mobile device. The ShowDrive device has no hard drive, but takes TV signals within the user's home and uploads them to remote storage. Article
