Sources: Insight price too rich for Time Warner Cable

Take Time Warner Cable (NYSE: TWC) off the list of potential Insight Communications suitors. That's what sources are telling the Wall Street Journal, noting that Insight's purported asking price of $3.5 billion to $4 billion is "much too high" for TWC.

With 761,400 subscribers, Insight would be a very tasty morsel for Time Warner Cable, which is in the shadow of much bigger Comcast (Nasdaq: CMCSA), and it might still happen if the Carlyle Group, which reportedly has put the MSO on the block, would come down in price a bit.

While Insight representatives continue to be mum on any speculation, reports have indicated that Carlyle is serious about selling Insight this time. An attempt to sell the property in 2007 was recalled when credit markets went sour.
