SPOTLIGHT: India's public telco gets bullish on IPTV

Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd., the state-owned telecom in India, has set an aggressive goal for IPTV penetration--50,000 subscribers in 18 months. It took Verizon 20 months to amass that many customers for FiOS in the United States, so it's not unheard of. MTNL is predicating its IPTV goal on penetration of its broadband service, which it defines as anything about 64 kbps, according to a report in the Hindustan Times available here.
