SureWest Communications signed a deal with Turner Network Television (TNT) to make TNT part of its core HDTV over IP service that is set to launch this year. The 17-channel offering will operate over SureWest's IP-based FTTP network in Northern California. The company said its service will be the first HDTV over IP service to be commercially deployed in the US. SureWest's service requires customers to have an HDTV-enabled television set, a subscription to the company's HD service tier and a SureWest HDTV cable box.
