Tech advances: interactive advertising, tru2way set-top

Puerto Rican cable operator OneLink San Juan has launched FourthWall Media's Ad Widgets advanced advertising system across an EBIF-provisioned network already built to support a collection of FourthWall's TV widgets, the companies announced.

The interactive ad program lets advertisers combine interactivity with commercials so that when a commercial runs subscribers see an on-screen prompt and can use their remote to request more information or even hit "click-to-call" to contact the merchant.

Also, Panasonic has received CableLabs verification of a new tru2way digital set-top box that houses a DOCSIS set-top gateway (DSG). The box reportedly is based on Comcast's Residential Network Gateway (RNG) specifications and is, of course, being aimed for sale to Comcast. Other details about the unit, reported in Light Reading, were sketchy.
