Time Warner Cable finally offers subscribers HBO Go

Time Warner Cable (NYSE: TWC), which as Time Warner (NYSE: TWX) chief executive Jeff Bewkes said earlier this month has been a little behind the curve on this one, finally is getting ready to offer subscribers access to HBO Go... as long as they also subscribe to the cable channel.

The company said it will go though a brief beta period with HBO Go and then offer it to its customers in the next month.

"HBO and Cinemax offer unique and compelling programming for our customers, and soon they'll be able to access it both anytime and anywhere," said Susan Weinstein, group VP of content acquisition at TWC.

HBO Go offers more than 1,400 titles online, including every episode of every season of current HBO shows like Game of Thrones and True Blood, as well as older shows like The Sopranos, Sex and the City and other HBO content.

TWC subscribers also will get MAX Go and the more than 400 titles of Cinemax programming online, access to movies, indies, cult favorites, the MAX After Dark series as well as drama series like Strike Back.

A year ago, Time Warner CFO John Martin told a Morgan Stanley conference in Barcelona that the majority of HBO subs would have access online by the end of 2010.
