The confoundingly slow rollout of TV Everywhere across the OTT and mobile device plain continued Tuesday, with the announcement that Showtime Anytime is now accessible through authentication on the Xbox 360 for Showtime subscribers who also use Microsoft's (NASDAQ: MSFT) Xbox Live programming service.
And as they're probably very used to hearing by now, those who own the new Xbox One console will have to wait until later this year for a Showtime TV Everywhere app.
Xbox 360 users, however, will be able to watch both West Coast and East Coast feeds of the premium cable channel, while using Kinect motion controls.
"The launch of Showtime Anytime on Xbox 360 is the logical next step in the expansion of our service," said Tom Christie, president, distribution, business development and network operations for Showtime Networks Inc., in a statement. "Our goal is for our subscribers to have the ability to access their favorite Showtime series wherever and however they want to watch across multiple platforms, so we're excited to bring our award-winning programs to Xbox Live's growing membership of millions."
Showtime Anytime was one of 45 new app "experiences" Microsoft said in early June would soon be added to Xbox platforms.
