Verizon adds 25 upgrades to FiOS TV service

Verizon (NYSE: VZ) has added 25 upgrades covering everything from 3D to enhanced DVR functionality to personalization to its FiOS TV platform, the telco said. Primarily, Verizon said, it added features that made FiOS more interactive.

"We've found that FiOS TV isn't about passive video watching--it has evolved into an entertainment and information destination," Eric Bruno, vice president of product management for Verizon said in a news release. "Our new generation of FiOS TV is all about increased interactivity, ease of use, simplicity of design and high tech made easy."

Among the high tech changes Verizon hopes will make things easier are enhanced 3D viewing with software that automatically detects a 3D program and changes settings to watch it on a 3D TV; external storage device capability to increase overall DVR storage; and new guide customization to make searching for programming easier, the telco said.
