What's behind all the telecom M&A? Spiraling Internet data usage, study says

With $406 billion in telco and tech company deals being made already in 2015, research firm Dealogic has suggested a simple root cause to all the M&A activity: Internet data usage, which has skyrocketed since 2000. And usage is only set to get more intense, with Cisco estimating traffic to grow to nearly 168 petabytes--a petabyte being a billion megabytes--per month by 2019. FierceTelecom examines this dynamic in this story.
