Xfinity app extended to Motorola Xoom, other Android Honeycomb devices

Comcast (Nasdaq: CMCSA) has expanded its Xfinity TV mobile app to the Motorola (NYSE: MMI) Xoom tablet PCs and other devices running Android Honeycomb and Gingerbread systems. The app has been available in the Android Market since last winter, but only for Android smartphones.

Prior to this launch the app may have worked on some of those devices, but was not officially optimized for them yet, so user experience may have not been the best.

We mentioned last week that one of the keys to the success of iPad (read this generally as "tablet PC") TV viewing apps is to get the legal hurdles out of the way quickly. Another key is to make sure they are extended to as many devices as possible sooner rather than later.
