AT&T jumps into streaming video with rebranded U-verse Online

AT&T is offering a rebranded and expanded online video platform to complement its IPTV offering U-verse, that makes a bucketful of its content available for streaming, including a library of archived TV episodes, current catch-up episodes of favorites like "Glee", "Lost", VOD, pay-per-view events and more.

U-verse Online is part of the telco's strategy to make popular U-verse content available across multiple screens, including the TV, PC and mobile devices. In March, AT&T previewed plans to offer U-verse Mobile, a mobile app that will allow U-verse TV customers to download and watch select shows on their Wi-Fi enabled mobile phones later this year.

"The benefits of multi-screen convergence are coming to life for AT&T U-verse customers," said Dan York, president of content, AT&T. "We have an unmatched ability to deliver on the multi-screen vision, and working with leading programmers, we're providing entertainment to consumers in new and integrated ways not yet offered by our competitors."

AT&T is using U-verse Online to supply viewers with U-verse TV information that formerly found on the AT&T U-connect site.

The company said that later this year it plans to offer U-verse TV customers the ability to log in to U-verse Online for access to more TV content choices and features at no extra charge
