CDNetworks names content delivery veteran Tumarkin CTO

San Jose, California-based content delivery network, CDNetworks, says it has hired Alexei Tumarkin as its chief technology officer for North America and EMEA.

Tumarkin, who has seven patents in content delivery, global load balancing and TCP optimization, brings a proven track record in Web performance innovation to CDNetworks, the company said.

"Alexei virtually defined and established the dynamic application acceleration industry," said Samuel Ko, founder and CEO of CDNetworks. "Alexei's technical brilliance and tenacity will prove invaluable to CDNetworks' customers and partners."

Tumarkin has held senior technical and engineering management positions with Cisco and was responsible for the development of Cisco's Web security systems. Prior to joining Cisco, he co-founded Netli, which was acquired by Akamai Technologies in 2007.
