Web-based TV technology company Clearleap has successfully integrated and deployed its cloud-based content management, delivery and advertising platform into Verizon's FiOS TV infrastructure. Verizon will initially deploy Clearleap to streamline production for FiOS1, which offers local subscribers hyper-local content including news, sports, traffic and weather.
In addition, Clearleap will help bolster FiOS1 on VOD across all FiOS TV markets. For example, Verizon is using Clearleap to offer professional sports teams a way to deliver VOD content directly to FiOS TV subscribers.
In Long Island, N.Y. and Washington, D.C., FiOS is using Clearleap's cloud-based processing and web-based management portal to help FiOS1 producers upload content from anywhere, process it centrally and redistribute it back to targeted local markets within minutes.
Clearleap CEO, Braxton Jarratt, said, "Verizon has done a tremendous job of pioneering new, more personalized TV experiences in the home. Integration of our platform will help them offer more content and create huge efficiencies in workflow. This also gives FiOS the potential to bring more interactivity into the living room at a time when demand for TV apps is starting to flourish."
Last month, Clearleap and over-the-top delivery platform Roku said they would partner to bring consumers more premium television content, including movie libraries of major studios to programs traditionally limited to pay TV services.
The partnership helps position Roku as a low-cost STB solution to the broader pay TV industry. It also signaled Clearleap's intentions to expand its platform from a cloud-based solution found inside cable and IPTV ecosystems to a universal video technology platform designed for any type of operator and programmer focused on the ten foot television viewing experience.
Clearleap's platform currently is deployed in 30 pay TV systems, including six of the top 10 U.S. cable operators.
