Encoding.com adds analytics to its Vid.ly Pro program

Video encoding service Encoding.com has rolled out some new tools for its popular Vid.ly universal video URL platform. Customers who subscribe to its Vid.ly Pro program can now get video statistics, for a specific date range, across mobile device and browser platforms for individual Vid.ly URL or an entire account.

The new analytics package provides an analysis of viewership data across 6,000 mobile devices and browsers. The API call "GetStatistics" is used to access data and allows customers to customize the real-time data and integrate it into existing systems and media workflow.

"Video analytics has been the most highly-anticipated feature request since we launched Vid.ly Pro this past summer," said Jeff Malkin, Encoding.com president. "The new Vid.ly analytics package gives our customers powerful information about the viewing of their videos, providing specific insight into their customer base, which helps them make better decisions on content development."

Last month, Encoding.com integrated its Vid.ly universal video platform into its video encoding workflow, accessed through a preset within the Web, Watch Folder and API interfaces. Selecting the Vid.ly preset automatically transcodes the source video into 24 different video formats. Vid.ly creates a short URL and the embed code for the Vid.ly-hosted video.
