Facebook signs deal for competition series from 'American Ninja Warrior' producers

Facebook is ramping up its original content slate with an order for a new competition series from the producers of “American Ninja Warrior.”

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Facebook has signed on for “Last State Standing,” a reality series that will pit contestants from all 50 states against each other in a series of games, with the winner claiming a $500,000 prize.

The report said that production on the show has already begun, but a premiere date has yet to be set.

This news popped up shortly after the Hollywood Reporter also reported that Facebook is reviving “Loosely Exactly Nicole,” which was canceled by MTV after one season.

As earlier reports have pointed out, Facebook is looking to launch its original programming initiative this month.

According to Business Insider, Facebook is planning to have about 24 shows ready for its big move into programming. The social platform is reportedly looking for long-form marquee programming suitable for viewing on TV sets, and shorter videos that will cost less to produce.

Facebook has reportedly signed deals for video content with a number of publishers including BuzzFeed, Vox, Discovery’s Group Nine Media, ATTN and others.

According to Reuters, Facebook is assembling a slate of short- and long-form content that it will offer on its ad-supported video service. The social media company is looking for 20- to 30-minute scripted shows, and 5- to 10-minute unscripted and scripted shows. According to the report, Facebook wants to own the long-form content but not the short-form.

Facebook is reportedly offering up to $250,000 for the long-form scripted series and looking to pay $10,000 to $35,000 for the shorter shows while offering creators 55% of ad revenues.
