Highwinds names telecom vet Steve Liddell president of CDN services

Highwinds today announced it had hired Steve Liddell as president of content delivery and network services. Liddell has more than Highwinds CDNthree decades of telecom, network and content delivery experience, including a stint as CEO of Panther Express--a distressed CDN that he successfully turned around and divested in early 2009.

"Highwinds is a high growth business with great technology, an energetic team and solid backers," said Liddell, "These are all the right ingredients. My role is to help take this business to the next level, which is only made sweeter by the fact that this company is growing fast and is highly profitable."

Steve Miller remains Highwinds' chairman and CEO overseeing the company's global business operations and strategic direction.

"I'm thrilled that Highwinds has quickly become one of the few CDNs running a profitable and rapidly growing business," Miler said. "Now we are really stepping on the gas. In the coming months, our growth rate will accelerate as we expand internationally and through a major acquisition to be announced tomorrow. Steve Liddell has plenty of experience in building and managing high growth companies, and his insight and enthusiasm are a great fit with our existing team."

Liddell previously was an independent consultant advising private equity and venture capital firms. Before joining Panther, he was COO of Clearwire International and has held senior leadership roles at Level 3.
