Limelight Networks closes on $110M EyeWonder buy

CDN Limelight Networks (NASDAQ: LLNW) says it's closed the $110 million deal for interactive ad platform EyeWonder that it announced in December, giving it expanded capabilities in online monetization through targeted advertising solutions. When Limelight announced the deal, analyst Dan Rayburn said the merger could be big for both companies, resulting in combined revenues in excess of $200 million.

Atlanta-based EyeWonder specializes in developing rich media interactive digital advertising. It has more than a decade of experience in creating and optimizing the effectiveness of online ad campaigns.

The deal gives Limelight an opportunity to expand its business beyond that of being a delivery pipe for the industry. And, it's not alone. Akamai (NASDAQ: AKAM) already is up and running with ad targeter Acerno.

Said Limelight: "With recent shifts in where content consumption occurs, we saw an opportunity to combine their expertise with our world-class delivery services. Content is everywhere now, on every Internet-connected device, and by using our combined company strengths, we can help publishers, advertisers, and agencies capitalize on that trend by capturing and engaging audiences."
