If Dailymotion users are hearing music, it’s probably because the video sharing hub recently announced a partnership with The Orchard to distribute more than 5000 of The Orchard’s music videos. Joy Marcus, Dailymotion’s U.S. GM, says the video hub -- with 60 million unique users -- is a perfect outlet for The Orchard's music.
"Partnering with The Orchard will further strengthen our already strong offer to our large audience of independent music fans. It also provides a valuable opportunity for our advertisers to reach a large audience of fiercely independent music lovers," said Marcus. Dailymotion's advertisers include top brands such as Proctor & Gamble, Disney, and MTV.
Dailymotion has been undergoing a growth spurt of sorts in the past year, almost doubling its global and U.S. audience, and growing his library of premium independent TV content. It also recently cashed in on $25.5 million venture capital funding round targeted at helping it break into the market in the U.S., where it has just 10 million current monthly users. The company already has used some $34 million in VC during its initial push into the US in 2007.
