Survey: Online video viewers are young, wealthy, early adopters

Who's watching online video? A new survey conducted by TDG's Michael Greeson for GigaOM Pro says the most active online viewers are young, typically early adopters and tend to be well off financially... great demos for the ad industry, and no real surprise. Nearly 70 percent own an HDTV and 42 percent have a home network.

Nearly two-thirds of the 2,000 consumers who participated in the survey say they watch watch mostly UGC on YouTube and like sites, and 37 percent watch Facebook videos. A substantial 32 percent say they watch network programming online. Viewers 18 - 32-years old, who make up more than a third of the online video audience, tend to take a buffet approach to online video, watching UGC, movies and television episodes as well as other available content.
