Vudu jumps on Boxee Box in time for launch

Movie streaming service Vudu announced it'll be available on the Boxee platform starting in November, just in time to make it onto the Vudu is coming to the Boxee Box by D-LinkBoxee Box, which is scheduled to ship by the middle of the month. Users will also be able to download the free software to Macs and PCs.

Vudu, bought by Walmart in February, recently dropped the price of its many of its movies to $2 for two nights, hoping to get a foot in the door as the battle for over-the-top movie delivery got more heated with the addition of Google and Apple.

Vudu offers a large collection of titles, including indies, with new releases available to rent as soon as they hit the market. Boxee's free media center software gives viewers access to the catalog in standard definition. The Boxee Box by D-Link will be able to deliver Vudu's full HD and HDX library in 1080p with Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 surround sound.
