Discovery taps AMC veteran to grow sports streaming business in Europe

Discovery, Inc. is hiring Paul Rehrig as general manager of Eurosport Digital, the company’s direct-to-consumer business unit in Europe.

Rehrig is coming over from AMC Networks, where he served for nearly eight years as executive vice president of digital and business development and helped grow the company’s digital partnerships and direct-to-consumer subscription businesses including Acorn TV and Shudder. At Discovery he’ll be tasked with growing Eurosport’s suite of direct-to-consumer product, including the Eurosport App, Eurosport Player and Eurosport.com.

Rehrig joins Discovery as Eurosport Digital is getting ready to deliver exclusive digital access to the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo across much of Europe. The service also offers more than 2,500 hours of live cycling, every court of every tennis Grand Slam in more than 33 markets, and every major World Championship and World Cup event during the winter sports season.
