Evoca brings live TV, including Altitude Sports, to Denver

Evoca, a multichannel TV service built on NEXTGEN broadcast technology, is launching its service, which includes the Altitude Sports regional network, in Denver.

For $25 per month plus a receiver—which costs $5 per month to rent or $250 to buy—with no contract and a guaranteed price for two years, new Evoca subscribers will get access to live games from the Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche along with Colorado State University and University of Denver games. The service also includes NFL Network, Game Show Network, Curiosity Stream, Bloomberg and other channels along with access to ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC through a provided antenna.

For Evoca, adding Altitude to the lineup is significant since Comcast and Dish Network, two of major MVPDs serving the Denver market, do not carry the regional sports network.

Beginning in February, Evoca subscribers in Denver and Colorado Springs will get access to Evoca Replay, a new feature that provides viewers with access to full recordings of games from the previous three days.

“Evoca represents a brave new model for local sports on TV,” said Todd Achilles, president and CEO of Evoca. “Traditional TV is dying under the weight of excessive fees and massive bundles, but with our model, Evoca provides local sports, along with favorite local, lifestyle and entertainment programming, at an affordable price with no additional hidden fees.”

Evoca first launched in Boise in 2020 and has since added markets including Phoenix and Colorado Springs, Colorado with plans to turn on service in Twin Falls, Idaho soon. CEO Todd Achilles had said his company wanted to stay in the neighborhood of Boise as it expanded in 2021.

“Our focus is second and third tier markets that have gone underserved. We think that’s where our value proposition resonates,” he said.

But now Evoca said it plans to reach tens of millions of U.S. households over the next few years.
