Roku teams with Walmart for new streaming device/soundbar

Roku is releasing two new devices – a smart soundbar and a wireless subwoofer – in partnership with Walmart’s onn brand.

Both devices will be priced at $129, and will be available in the coming weeks exclusively at Walmart.

The soundbar supports 4K HDR and includes Roku features like Automatic Volume Leveling, Night Mode and Speech Clarity. The device has Bluetooth support, and comes with a Roku remote and the Roku mobile app that allows users to control the smart soundbar, stream movies and TV from the Roku Channel and use headphones for private listening.

“Roku and Walmart have worked together for years to enhance the entertainment experience for millions of people who have purchased Roku TV models and Roku streaming players. Now, we’re looking forward to getting these new audio products on shelves to provide consumers with better sound for their TV experience at a great price,” said Mark Ely, vice president of players and whole home product management at Roku, in a statement.

The onn smart soundbar arrives about one month after Roku announced its own branded smart soundbar priced at $179.99. The device has a similar feature set as the onn soundbar, but includes compatibility with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.

In August Roku announced that it had recently reached an agreement with Walmart to offer several new Roku devices including audio products to customers under Walmart’s onn brand. This is in addition to Roku TVs and Roku players already sold through Walmart.
