Showtime, Roku talk shop around mitigating SVOD churn

Customer churn is one of the biggest ongoing concerns for subscription streaming video services in the U.S. and internationally.

Deloitte estimates that 150 million SVOD memberships will be canceled worldwide in 2022. That total could dramatically impact many U.S.-based streaming services like Netflix and Disney+ that count their subscribers in the hundreds of millions.

Randy Ahn, head of SVOD at the Roku Channel, and Laura Palmer, senior vice president of distributor marketing at Showtime Networks, sat down for a fireside chat during Fierce Video’s recent StreamTV Growth Summit to discuss ways of combatting churn.
