Sony’s PlayStation Vue is following suit with its virtual MVPD competitors and raising prices on all tiers of its streaming TV service.
The company confirmed the move and said the change starts today for new customers. Existing customers will keep their current price for at least 30 days and will see the new price beginning on their first billing cycle on or after July 31.
“At PlayStation Vue, we always strive to provide the best live TV viewing experience at the most compelling value to our customers. This includes both the content that is popular with our overall customer base, as well as the key features that make PS Vue the best place to watch,” the company said in a statement. “With costs rising each year for content, we constantly evaluate each deal to ensure we continue to deliver the content you want while considering the overall value of each package. After reviewing this, we have made the decision to raise the price of all of our multi-channel plans by $5.”

With the price hike, PlayStation Vue’s Access package now costs $50 per month, the Core package costs $55 per month, the Elite package costs $65 per month and the Ultra package costs $85 per month.
PlayStation Vue’s price increase comes after competitors including DirecTV Now, YouTube TV, Hulu with Live TV and FuboTV all raised their prices this year.
In January, Hulu announced a $5 price increase for its live TV product, taking it from $39.99 per month to $44.99. In March, FuboTV raised the price of its base packages by $10 to $54.99 per month, and DirecTV rolled out two new pricing tiers: DirecTV Now Plus (priced at $50/month) and Max (priced at $70/month). In April, YouTube TV raised its prices by $10 to $50 per month.
