Cox has announced the hiring of veteran management consultant Sujata Gosalia as executive VP and chief strategy officer.

Starting on Jan. 2, Gosalia will move to Cox’s Atlanta headquarters, where she’ll lead the privately-held MSO’s business planning, competitive assessment and marketplace evaluation efforts.

Gosalia joins Cox from the international business consulting firm Oliver Wyman, where she headed the New York office. She also served as senior VP of marketing at Neustar, a cloud-based information and analytics company.

While the number-one and -two U.S. cable operators have prominently discussed things like M&A and wireless strategy, Cox, the third largest cable company, which serves 6 million customers, has remained conspicuously quiet of late.

"The communications, connectivity and entertainment needs of our customers are evolving rapidly. Sujata brings a great diversity of perspective as we explore new strategies to meet those needs,” said Cox President Pat Esser in a statement.

“Her experience will be a key asset as we set priorities, pursue growth and continue new business development for our company,” Esser added.
