Disney looks to Yahoo! Connected TV to further test Web TV market

The Yahoo! Connected TV platform could soon be home to some content from Walt Disney Co., adding another strong competitor to the OTT race and giving pay-TV operators one more competitor to watch.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Yahoo Connected TV widgets would include ESPN, ABC and Disney networks, but that the content likely would be limited to trailers and clips. Disney announced at the Consumer Electronics Show that CBS, NBC, Showtime and the Home Shopping Network also are in the process of creating widgets for its platform, which is already included in a number of connected televisions.

The ESPN widget might include scores, stats and video clips. The Disney and ABC widgets, meanwhile, could be home to trailers, and short clips.
