Genachowski staying put, aide says

An aide to FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski has debunked the notion his boss is splitting the agency to take a cabinet post in the Obama Administration.

"Chairman Genachowski is very happy at the FCC and is focused on harnessing the opportunities of the communications and technology space," Genachowski's senior counselor, Josh Gotheheimer told Broadcasting & Cable. "He has no intention to leave the position."

Word earlier this week was that Genachowski was in the running to take over as commerce secretary when Gary Locke left that post to become ambassador to China.
