Reports indicate that Orca is looking for suitors and Comverse may be the current front-runner. Orca is an Israeli middleware vendor that has struggled to land big revenue-generating deals. It had a promising partnership with Lucent, which is now, of course, part of Alcatel and has its own MiViewTV solution. Comverse looks to be the ideal and likely suitor because it is cash-ready, based in Israel and in need of a product suite for its entrance into the telco TV sector. Comverse already boasts some 500 carrier partners for voicemail, billing, multimedia services and messaging products.
