Time Warner Cable prepares to launch high-end Signature Home 'concierge service' nationally

While Time Warner Cable (NYSE: TWC-WI) is offering a Larry-Low-Budget video offering for customers experiencing the ill effects of the recession, it's not ignoring its more affluent customers. The MSO has been testing the service in its Charlotte, N.C., system and will roll out the service nationally in December.

For around $180 a month, customers can subscribe to TWC's "Signature Home" service, which will allow them to set up specific times for service appointments instead of three-hour windows. They will also have access to a personal service advisor 24 hours a day. They will also receive a whole-house DVR system including two networked HD DVR set-top boxes (able to record four HD programs simultaneously, and store 150 hours of HD content or 400 hours of standard definition programming); wideband high-speed data service (at speeds of 50Megabits per second ); wireless home network with DOCSIS 3.0 modem with 802.11n wireless router included; a digital cable package with more than 180 channels, including HD and On Demand; dDigital phone service with home voicemail to e-mail, caller ID on PC and TV, call fwarding and unlimited nationwide calling.

Service technicians will set up customers' wireless home network and connect up to 13 devices, including televisions, computers, gaming consoles and mobile phones.

"It's like a concierge service," said Stacy Zaja, a Time Warner spokeswoman told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

At the other end of the spectrum, Time Warner launched its "TV Essentials" bare-bones video service in New York City earlier this month for $39.99.
