TiVo, Entone develop integrated IPTV play

TiVo (Nasdaq: TIVO) has taken the next logical step in its evolution as a digital video recording company by partnering with Entone to place its cloud services and other operational elements into Entone's IPTV platforms.

The integrated product includes TiVo's universal search and recommendations and networked DVR capabilities and Entone's hybrid TV platforms for IPTV operators.

"With extensive global IPTV deployments, Entone is the perfect partner for TiVo to build on our momentum with service providers worldwide," Joseph Weber, vice president of technology strategy at TiVo said in a press release.

IPTV operators will be the first to experience what the two companies suggest is a combination of TiVo's advanced television and rich media services with Entone's hardware platform and, importantly, the advancing hybrid TV opportunity.

"TiVo not only pioneered the DVR but is also leading the way with cloud TV services such as networked DVR and Web media applications (and) this partnership continues Entone's focus on making the best possible entertainment experience available to our operator customers and their subscribers," added Entone CEO Steve McKay in the press release.
