AdRise rolls out connected TV ad distribution platform

Online ad platform AdRise is launching adRise Connect, which it's billing as a free connected TV distribution platform that enables content owners to build, distribute and monetize video apps for all the major Connected TV platforms. The company says it has Starz Digital Media's Manga Entertainment as a cornerstone client.

AdRise said the service can give content owners near complete connected TV coverage at no charge, and it said it can "monetize premium content with TV-like advertising revenue." The company added it supports 11 connected TV platforms including Google TV, Boxee, Western Digital, Roku, Samsung, iOS and Android and Yahoo connected TV. It currently lists supported manufacturers as Apple, Sony, Vizio, Toshiba, Samsung and Logitech.

San Francisco-based AdRise said Starz Digital Media's Manga Entertainment is using it to deliver an end-to-end connected TV app solution, including building apps, submitting them to multiple TV platforms, powering the advertising technology to display and track ads across TV platforms and monetizing ads from top brand advertisers.

Founder and CEO Farhad Massoudi said adRise was designed to make it easier for content partners to reach "the growing number of viewers across all Connected TV platforms without having to incur up-front costs. He also said the company is seeing content owner revenue spike as consumers begin to adopt connected TV technology.

"Advertisers chase after those viewers who no longer are watching traditional TV, and more content is jumping onto connected TVs," said Massoudi.

There's little doubt connected TVs are the trend du jour. According to online video platform Ooyala, connected TV platforms saw huge growth in the fourth quarter of 2011.
